The Child

There was a child

who was very boastful and rowdy.

The child played in the streets.

He did what he wanted.

There was no one to tell the child,

Tell the words,

I LOVE YOU.

The street was empty.

The child was alone.

One day, a Friend came

Slushing down the muddy, filthy street.

He saw the child.

The child playing alone.

The Friend went up to the child

and He said, "Come to Me,

All who are weary and heavy laden

And I will give you rest."

Take My yoke upon you,

and learn from Me.

For I am gentle and humble in heart,

and you shall find rest for your souls.

For My burden is light."  (Matthew 11:28-30)

The child looked up

Surprise and fear showed in his eyes.

Behind the fear and surprise was hunger.

Hunger for unconditional love.

The Friend immediately reached out.

The child, with tears streaming

from his hungry eyes,

accepted and wanted this Friend.

The child cried out,

"How?"

How will the streets be friendly?

How will I get this perfect love?

The Friend replied, "For God so

Loved the world, that He gave

His one and only Son,

that whoever believes in Him,

should have eternal life." (John 3:!6)

The child quickly responded.

The child was saved!

Then the Friend added,

"My Father, Who has given them

to Me, is greater than all;

And no one is able to snatch

them out of the Father's hand." (John 10:29)

The child who confessed his wrong doings

and received Christ Jesus, his Friend

Now knew perfect, unconditional love.

He also knew that

"The Lord is my helper,

I will not be afraid.

What can man do to me?" (Psalm 118:6-7)

The street was new.

The child would never be deserted.

The child found The Friend.

"Surely I Am with you always,

even until the end of the age." (Matthew 28:20)

Put your faith in Jesus... Mama says He will never leave you!
